3rd Place at NXL Chicago

Podium in Chicago!

We were running with 5 and a half players in Chicago but the group couldn't have been tigther. Started of Friday hot coming up with 2 big wins against Caribbean Allstars and New Jersey Supreme. The crew faltered a bit on Saturday with a tough loss agains the Seadogs and a tie against Gulf Coast.

Sunday started hot running through Seattle Cartel in the ochos. The biggest win of the weekend came in the QuarterFinals against A.C. Diesel. Diesel is a great team and has had our number this whole year. Prior to this match, our point-record against them was 2-14. The boys were feeling it though and we won a nailbiter 3-2 with Steve Schloss hitting the buzzer with 2 seconds left. Check out Dye's Instagram for an epic clip of the final point.

Our semi-final match against the TonTons was a rough one. They came prepared and were ready to fight and came at us in a 9-5 slugfust. The match had everything: Axel being Axel, Keith running through the center, multiple 30 second points. At the end of it all, they were the better team that day and came up with the win.

The 3rd place match is always bitter sweet but the Hurricanes were resolved to come out of the event with a podium. In all reality, DMG didn't stand a chance. They waited 10 minutes to hit the buzzer to tie the game 2-2 until there were only 9 seconds left and it'd come down to one overtime point to decide it all. We won the overtime point in less than a minute with 5 bodies alive and came away with a respectable 3rd place.
